The Workforce Development Committee (WDC) is a sub-committee of the PIC Council / Boston MassHire Workforce Board established to oversee career centers and the adult training system. The committee represents the employers, community colleges, community-based organizations, and other entities on the workforce board who provide input and guidance on:
- The distribution of state and federal funding for adult services
- The procurement and operation of Boston’s career center charters
- Local workforce policies and best practices
- Approval of training providers for the Eligible Training Provider List (ETPL)
- Workforce grants and activities
The WDC meets four times a year and is chaired by Harneen Chernow, Director of Education at 1199SEIU Training and Employment Funds, and staff from the Board and the Mayor’s Office of Workforce Development. The Chair reports activity, findings, and recommendations to the Boston MassHire Workforce Board at quarterly meetings.
