Meet the PIC Summer 2026 Interns
July 30, 2026
Every summer, the PIC hosts interns who play an integral role in supporting the organization during the busy summer months. During summer internship season, the PIC office is constantly buzzing—students come in and out to pick up checks or drop off paperwork, and program supervisors stop by to check in with PIC staff. The interns provide not only much-needed extra sets of hands but also add energy and vibrance to the office.
As July comes to an end, the PIC would like to show our appreciation for these incredible interns by highlighting them and their contributions.
Meet the interns:
Mumina Ali
Mumina Ali started at the PIC this summer and has quickly proven how her work ethic is exceptional. Mumina helps manage paperwork, uploads student information, manages student payrolls, and analyzes paychecks to make sure everything is right. Mumina’s favorite part of working at the PIC is the supportive environment and finds that her colleagues are always willing to help. “Since I’m new here, I didn’t always know exactly what to do, so whenever I ask for help, I’m always happy that the response I get is clear and kind,” she shares. Her advice to anyone new at the PIC: pay close attention to detail, as student information is important to get correct.
Mumina is from South Boston, attended Fenway High School, and graduated from Bunker Hill Community College in 2025, where she took prerequisite courses for nursing programs. She hopes to do hands-on work in hospitals in the future.
Giovanni Halls
Giovanni Halls has been a huge help to the PIC’s administrative staff each summer since 2023. At the PIC, Giovanni helps with student onboarding for their jobs, and manages student information, data entry, and report generation. Giovanni lives in the South Shore, and he enjoys commuting to work and “experienc[ing] parts of Boston life that [he] cannot get at home”.
From Abington, MA, Giovanni attended Boston College High School, graduated from UMass Lowell with a bachelor’s in engineering and is aiming to get a master’s in engineering in the future.
Ale Hernandez
Ale Hernandez is another long-time intern at the PIC, starting in summer 2023. At the PIC, Ale files and organizes timesheets for payrolls and helps throughout the office wherever needed. Ale enjoys the people in the office the most out of anything in her job and shares that the team is a fun time to work with, which makes the work go by a lot quicker. Ale’s advice for anyone starting out at the PIC, or office work in general, is not to be afraid to ask questions. She says, “There are many misconceptions about office work and people saying you need to know absolutely 100% of everything you are doing, but the point of an internship is to learn, so it is perfectly normal to ask questions to orient yourself.”
Originally from Dorchester, Ale graduated from Boston Arts Academy before transferring from Bunker Hill Community College to UMass Boston to study general psychology. She plans to get a master’s degree in psychology to be a therapist.
Kobi Rivera Saunders
Kobi Rivera Saunders recently started at the PIC in summer 2026. Kobi assists the communications and marketing department with social media management, photography, and blog writing (including this one). To him, the best part of his day at the PIC is the calm work environment and the ability to be able to tackle his tasks at his own pace. He says, “I have a tendency to fall under pressure quick when having multiple important things to do, so being able to pick what I want to do first and go along with it without being overly pressured by anyone is very relieving.” Kobi advises new hires in office work to always plan a schedule each day, as it is a good thing to have a list of tasks to do in a set order each day, rather than figuring it out on the fly.
Kobi is a Roslindale native, attended Fenway High School, and is an incoming freshman at the UMass Boston Honors College. He is majoring in English and is thinking about becoming a teacher in the future.
Nobert Tossoukpe
Norbert Tossoukpe began at the PIC in summer 2025, and deals with everything from student information and data entry to confirming student documents are up-to-date. Whenever there is paperwork to be done, Norbert will be there. Norbert’s job consists of primarily computer work, so his favorite part of the day is being able to sit at the front desk and talk to his coworkers for a change of pace. He also notes how rewarding the job feels, saying “We love seeing the kids learn to work and grow and earn their first paychecks, it’s an amazing feeling to see how our work has an impact.” Norbert’s advice to new people at the PIC: it is okay to make mistakes, as mistakes are a normal part of our everyday lives.
Norbert grew up in Hyde Park, attended the John D. O’Bryant School, and is currently at UMass Boston studying biology. He aims to work in a pharmaceuticals lab in the future.
The PIC is very grateful to host these wonderful summer interns, and we appreciate their contributions to the workplace. Happy National Intern Day!
